The discount is applied to the base price. You will need to create a coupon or adjust your markup if you'd like to pass along the savings to your clients. Otherwise this promotion just means more income for you. :)

TIP: Don't embed a 3200x2000 pixel image and just reduce it with the IMG parameters...that took quite a while to load on a very fast cable modem, I can only guess how that must look loading on something slower (The car image).

Yes, I'd like to see a feature that would enable the watermark to show up on digital images for my clients to share on social networking sites. I totally love Zenfolio, but now I'll have to import galleries back into Aperture to apply my watermark logo, export them, then upload them as a duplicate gallery, will take lots of time...

I want to thank everyone for their kind comments and support. It has been difficult starting, and especially with the current economic situation, but I have received much help and support from many in the Zenfolio community and staff, and consider joining with Zenfolio to be one of the best business decisions I have made along the way.

And yes, a special thank you to Ruthann, the mother of my first and third brides where I covered the weddings solo. Without her insistence that I cover her daughter's weddings, I would never have gotten started down this path.

As the friend who was able to convince a talented novice to help with a tight budget, I thank you. You are right on the money when you stated that service at the time of need is of upmost importance. By working with people and accepting the budgets they work within, your experience continues to grow and business follows. Stepping out and risking rejection is hard, but well worth the results as shown by your ever growing experience and business.

I so agree with not putting anything identifying on your car., it's more like a bulls eye! You have written this very well and I thank you for sharing.

I too have been getting my business started in the last year. I took a non paying apprenticeship for just about 6 months with a well know photographer. He has photographed our current President, does a lot of business with Forbs and other top magazines.

It was tough fiancially to do this but I would not have been able to afford to gather this knowledge any other way and the quality of my work jumped!

One of the biggest things the apprenticeship did for me was to change how I think about photography and being a photographer. It's a very different mind set all together. Yes, people do get paid $7,000.00 for one photo shoot providing 3 or 4 images!

It's a different world at the pro-level so if you are heading there make every effort to find out as much as you can about pricing, equipment, expectations and contracts.

Nice story Kevin! Thanks for sharing! You bring up a great point about customer service; no matter how great your photos are, if the customer isn't your number one priority your business will surely suffer... or even fail.

Thanks for sharing Kevin. Sounds like a very similar path that I'm on. Mine started with seniors pictures for my daughter and then next a friends wedding. Shot 5 weddings this past year and hoping for lots more in the coming year.

I feel like I'm just getting started and it's refreshing to see success in what sounds to me like very similar situations.
