SEO and Google

I am rather stumped by this. I have done all of the cool things to get my site crawled and indexed and noticed by Google Search. However when I search for my site on Google I get nothing, but if I search on Bing or Yahoo where I did nothing my site pops right to the top within the first two or three listings. And yes I have waited better than a week after doing all of this and still nothing.

Has anyone experienced this? Am I still missing something?

It's too bad you didn't include a link to your website or the keywords you're trying to be found for. I'm not sure how anyone can address your question absent this.

I would consider researching the phrases you searched and their competitive level. Every market and phrase is different but if your following all the steps just give it time - there is no specific set time.

Use SEO moz to evaluate the quality of the links to your page. The more quality links pointing to your page the better your website will perform in the search engines.

Further on from the previous post. Research the competition and how powerful their websites are for your certain keywords. A good guide on analyzing the competition I found here. It can take some time to rank higher if you do a quality job, however it's totally worth it.

Maybe i am replying a little too late but i am still new to the forum. I would suggest that you read the book "Search Engine Optimization: Increase Your Google Rankings, Double Your Site Traffic" by Stephen Woessner. This was given to me as a present last month. I follow the Author is on LinkedIn and he is this guy is really good. You might want to check his reviews.

Treat your Zen blog as you would any social media page like Twitter Instagram or Facebook!

Your blog posts don’t have to be drawn out literary masterpieces just as long as your posting new content often. This could be in the form of new (Zen hosted) photos with a caption/comment, embedded links to videos or other social media content found elsewhere on the web (as long as it consistent with your brand) or traditionally writtten blog pieces authored by you for exclusive publication on your site.

Zenfolio also gives you the option to schedule your blog post publication dates ahead of time which allows you to publish your new original content on a scheduled regular basis.
Consistency is king so even if you post at least one piece of a original content twice a week, as long as you set it to publish these articles at the exact same time on the exact same day, it will improve your rankings dramatically.

Another way to catch Googles attention is to refresh your home page with new content on a regular basis.
Change your homepage photo and reword your homepage copy as needed.
Make sure that you have your About page information showing up on your homepage and that you have at least a paragraph of text viewable. Also link your social media info into your homepage and include your profile photo.

Just as a heads up, not all of Zens homepage templates are SEO friendly.
I’ve found that the Classic templates allow for the greatest amount of content to be displayed for crawling purposes (more available fields for adding text and links etc.)

Once you’ve done that, go to google search console and fetch the new home page manually so that google crawls it quickly.
Again, consistency is King so try to do this on a regular basis (4 times a year or more).

February 2019 Update: I maintain two Zenfolio websites in separate markets both of which are currently ranking on page one of Google and am in the process of building a third.
In the interest of educating others on my practices of SEO, I’ll live-blogging the entire build out with a goal of hitting page 1 on Google within 45 days.
If any of you out there would like to follow along with my progress, start here..

Some keywords gets refreshed on search results more often than others. if it is not a popular phrase or keyword... you may have to wait a bit longer. you can also request a page to be indexed in your google webmaster tools

It took me 69 days, but I currently manage three Zenfolio websites which are all now ranking on page one on Google.

I wrote a blog post outlining all of the work required to take a brand new Zenfolio website from zero to page one.

The two biggest tips I can give to me fellow Zen users are...

    1. Make sure that your website description matches your welcome message on your homepage. Like, exactly matches. Word for word. Just copy and paste your welcome message directly into your website description, it’s as simple as that.
    2. Treat your Zenfolio blog exactly like you would use social media. It’s not necessary to write long drawn out posts but it is very important to add new content daily if not every other day. Even if it’s just a single photo with the caption as long as it is published at the exact same time on the schedule over a period of 30 days your website will see a dramatic improvement in rankings .
