I posted earlier today about "dim the lights" (see 'changes to Dim the Lights') and several days ago about " my perfect slide-show". It seems to me that there are more or less two camps when it comes to slide-show. In the red corner we have those (like myself) who basically want an unimpeded image on a plain back-ground where transitions and auto-caption are off by default; whilst in the blue corner others want transitions and auto-caption on by default plus maybe further help for novice viewers and who knows what other features in the future --- music, talk-overs,links, video etc.. This could be arranged by allowing individual control of the default settings and features, which may be easy to do, I don't really know. However, the latest incarnation of dim the lights ( if you park the cursor ) is giving me almost exactly my ideal of a clean image on a plain background (in my case black as that is my theme) and without the white screen interruption en-route to slide-show. If this browse mode could be allowed to change image at a selectable speed (call it auto-browse), then I and the rest of the red corner would have our perfect slideshow -- and there would be no need to compromise the requirements of the blue corner. (There may even be some mavericks who would want to be in both camps!!.) I am certainly no expert in software, but might this not make things easier for ZF in the future, building in a flexibility that avoids many potential development conflicts?
