    Embeddable Slideshow Problem

I was testing out the new embeddable slideshow feature on my individually-hosted Wordpress blog today but everytime I copy the given code into a post, it shows me another slideshow from another zenfolio member. Have there been any bugs reported about embedding the Zenfolio slideshow into a Wordpress blog?

    Re: Embeddable Slideshow Problem

The problem somehow fixed itself! The embedded slideshow works great now on my hosted wordpress blog.

I tested the code out by copying it into notepad and saving it as an HTML file. Then I opened it within IE8, Firefox 3.5, and Safari 4 and it worked perfectly in all three browsers. Afterwards, I was able to copy the code into my blog post and it worked. I'm not sure if it was anything I did, but I'm just glad that it's working now! Thanks for your help Kevin and AF.

    Re: Embeddable Slideshow Problem

My link takes me to someone elses slide show. I have tried changing galleries but the link always goes to the same slideshow. I tried this by pasting it on an email with hotmail.  Maybe it will work itself out in the next day or two. With the addition of music this is going to be a real nice feature, I still would like to see more customization for the home page.

I wonder why there is not a separate link to use in emails and other sites like forums ect. Even in this site we can attach links on our home page. Sites like youtube offer the links and HTML codes separatly.I hope that these links won't only work in blogs and websites, since this is my website I wouldn't get much use out of this feature if that was the case. the slide show has a cleaner look that would be more what I want for real estate slide shows on the MLS as compared to the regular gallery slideshow link.

I noticed that gmail allows me to rename the link, something Hotmail does not. the address within the code works but it not mine.

    Re: Embeddable Slideshow Problem

The new 'embeddable slideshow' is not accessable via a 'link'.  The code you are getting is actual HTML code that is used to embed into a website or blog or similar that allows embedding html code.

I am not sure why, if you are pasting the code into a hotmail email, that you are getting anything really.  But now I see where you said you are deleting all the 'extras'.  The 'extras' as you call them, are the code that points to your gallery.  If you delete those, then the user won't be able to get to your 'slideshow'.  The code has to be used in it's entirety.

If you want an actual 'link' that you can send in an email, then in edit view, select the gallery you want, and click 'edit' in the links box in the toolbox and it will show you a slideshow link there that you can send to someone so they can see a slideshow of the pictures in your gallery.

    Re: Embeddable Slideshow Problem

All that code is is instructions for the GUI so you can see something on the screen before clicking on the link ( play button)  to the host ( zenfolio where the slide show is located ) the link within  the code works fine as it should but it is someone elses show here on Zenfolio. The link works as it should. here it is.

    <embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" width="800" height="600" align="" src="http://www.zenfolio.com/zf/code/slideshow.swf" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" allowFullScreen="true" flashvars="id=47502305&background=0xf5f5f5&delay=3&transition=2&loop=0&allowfs=1&allowthumbs=1&showlink=1&allowtitles=0&showtitles=0&frame=0xcccccc"></embed>

Or here is just the link to the slide show found in the code above. why is someone elses link in every one of mine no matter which gallery I use or settingsI apply? I can't understand why Zenfolio decided not to just inclued a link as well for people to use. I use these all the time. I much prefer this to the standard slide show. Again Gmail allows you to change the name of the link without changing the address.

I would also like to point out that embedding the code in my MLS system just as I would do for a video does not funtion. but the link from within the code works fine in the virtual tour tab. So there is likely a  problem here, Youtube videos embed with no problem under the video tab in my MLS system. the code does not work in the Virtual tour tab as that does not accept HTML code only standard links.

    Re: Embeddable Slideshow Problem

If you want to use the embeddable slideshow, you need to insert the code provided on the configuration page into your web page, blog, forums, etc.

If you want to send a link to the slideshow, you need to use the link to the slideshow displayed in the Send Link popup.

The slideshow that you see when you link to the slideshow.swf file is just a default set of images. This is not a proper way to use the embeddable slideshow.

Another important thing to mention is that the gallery that you specify in the embeddable slideshow has to be public, otherwise the slideshow will not work.

    Re: Embeddable Slideshow Problem

Thanks for the quick reply unfortunantly it looks like the new feature is usless for me. It won't work on my MLS system like everyother video link and I can't have a link for virtual tours and emails. I only have 1 website and I am not a blogger so I apparently can't use the new feature.

Like many other Zenfolio users I look forward to the next update when a link can be supplied to open up the usage of this excellent new feature to other users.

    Re: Embeddable Slideshow Problem

It may not be of use to you if you don't have a website that you want to 'embed' a slideshow into, or a blog that you want to 'embed' a slideshow into.  But there isn't a way to supply a link to this because it is not a page on a site, it is 'embedabble code' that will produce a slideshow on the page that it is embedded into.  I think you are misunderstanding the technology.

If you want a 'link' that you can show people or send in an email to people so when they click on it, they are taken to a slideshow, Zenfolio has offered that feature for sometime now, and you can access that link by clicking on 'edit' in the link box in edit view.  Then you will have a link you can paste into an email, and when someone clicks the link it will take them to a slideshow of the gallery you were getting the link from.

But again, very different things here, for very different purposes.  The one you are saying you want, is the one Zen has had for a while, and works very nicely!  :)

Hope that helps clear up the confusion.

    Re: Embeddable Slideshow Problem

The existing slideshow is nowhere near as professional as the new one and is why many of us are making flash based web pages for linking ( a pain to do compared to this new feature) or using third party software for generating them and getting them hosted. It would be nice to find a site that gave more customization in that area. That would be a big time saver. It would be nice not to have to have muiltible websites. I have a hosting account that I use for flash based web pages but that's it.
