    Print options [B&W]

    Hi Guys,

I'm just wondering if there is a way that clients can view the images in B&W without me uploading a separate file for the B&W version?

    Thanks, Davy

    Davy,

This is something that is not available. You will need to upload images in B&W in order for your clients to view/order them.

    Always here to help!

    Re: Print options [B&W]

Just chiming in here .. I've only done one client gallery so far, will have another in the works this week. If I am going to upload B&W versions, it seems that they should just order the B&W version on B&W paper. I'm still trying to decide how I want to do this ... because there's no way to specify that B&W uploads go with B&W paper, and Color uploads go with Color paper .. and I dont want to leave it up to the client to choose the right paper.

I am beginning to think self-fulfillment is the way to go ... I just have to learn more about it! :)

    Lori,

Just answered another post of yours on self-fulfillment, but to add to this and address this post, you can create a seperate price list (this can happen whether self-fulfilled, or Zenfolio fulfilled) that is a B&W Price List and the only option for paper is the B&W Paper, and assign that price list to your B&W images.  You can keep everything else in the price list identical, just make only B&W paper available.

You can do this with seperate galleries, or you can put the color version side by side with the b&w version in the same gallery.  Price lists can be set to galleries or individual photos.  :)

Kevin, thanks so much for the response! I am relieved to know that I can set individual pricing to images, not just to galleries. This is exactly what I needed/wanted to hear!

    Thanks guys,

I've done as suggested and uploaded seperate B&W files, althopugh I cant seem to find a B&W paper choice (I'm using photobox) it'll still be ok though, it'll just be a B&W image on colour paper.

Thanks for all your help, Davy

    Re: Print options [B&W]

     Davy,

From what I've learned, ordering B&W on the "color" paper can leave a yellow or green tint on the print. I've just ordered a few different items for myself to test the waters, and can post my findings when they come. Things lke:

    • B&W on B&W paper, and the same image on Color paper
    • My B&W conversion, then letting the lab do a B&W conversion on the same image
    • and more ..

To change the option, you need a separate price list (you can duplicate your original price list, then on the new one only select B&W paper) .. then when in the admin view, double-click on a B&W image. On the right, go to "Print Ordering" and "Edit". There's an option to un-select the "same as existing gallery" option and choose a separate price list.

Hope that helps, this is the first time I was able to post an "answer" in these forums rather than a question! Phew, maybe I'm making progress! Wink

    Cheers Lori,

I can't find the option for the B&W paper print, I'm using photobox (I'm UK based) but can't find it anywhere.

I can create the separate price list okay and am able to assign it to certain photos (the B&W ones) but just can't find the B&W print option.

Currently Photobox doesn't offer a B&W paper like Mpix does. The paper they have available is described here.

My apologies... I have to remember to look where people are from now, and learn what photobox is offering before I make those statements.
