I was disappointed to find, when logging in recently, that the Share button has some links for slideshows and encourages people to post them on social networking sites. If I wanted to share my photos, I would have used Flickr. I would really prefer to hide this button or feature, but I cannot find out how to do it.

I don't think you can disable this button. I hope some more experienced with zenfolio will let us know for sure.

Here is the way to hide the “Share” button.

Select the gallery you don’t want to share, then select “Customize Visitor View” and select “Options”. In the “Page Elements” part, at the top of the window, select “hide” for the “Share button”.

 Just don't use it. It's only visible when you logged in. For other users, they don't see it.

actually if it is set to 'show', then visitors to your site CAN see it and use it... without being logged in to anything.

Yes, it's seen at all times. however, your customers/visitors will not see direct links to individual photos.

This is a question I also would like answered. I have tried the offered fix and it still shows up on my pages. I also went to the linked pages here and still see it.

While I do subscribe to the theory "If you do not want everyone to see it do not post it on the internet" It would be nice to make it a bit more difficult to link to Facebook.

Under options did you do it at the gallery level (thumbnail view) and again at the image level? They are separate controls. You set it to hide at the gallery level. Then, if you also want to hide it at the image level click into an image and turn it to hide there as well.

See this as an example where I have the share button hidden in both places.
