Any suggestions for the Best method to quickly add a logo to prints after an order is place by a customer?

I do about half Event/Hunter/Jumper Horse Shows and half Portraits. For the Events, it is a pain to upload thousands of photos full-size. I go through all the photos, edit and then upload them at half size (1-3 mg is really big enough for a good 4x6 or 5x7 print).

I love that the customer can order a print and I can immediately accept it and send it to the printer...but I never do that.

I am a perfectionist and go back and touch up the photo and put my logo on it. I am thrilled with the final product, but it takes too much time after editing and uploading thousands of images in the first place.

What method do you use once an order is placed? Do you have a streamlined method for adding logos for the final print?

I have Lightroom, Photoshop, and a million small programs. I also am using iPhoto now for organizing the photos, but I do not feel that my work is streamlined enough.

Any suggestions for uploading finished images that are ready to be printed before the customer places the order?

The difficulty for me is time it takes to upload thousands of photos and I certainly do not have time to add logos individually to each before they are posted.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

If you are a NAPP member, they have a watermark creator for free download.  Just select all the images and apply the watermark (which would be a file you choose).  Plus with NAPP you get discounts on tons of stuff so it pretty much pays for itself.  If you want to join click here http://www.photoshopuser.com/register.html&aid=nqtjlp&code=friend (if you sign up with this link I will get extra time added to my NAPP membership for free)

On a side note, if you use Lightroom and the free export to Zenfolio plug-in (which I found on zenfolio) the upload process is very fast.  Select photos, run the plug-in, walk away from the computer and let it go.  Very easy.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have not joined NAPP, but have looked into it in the past.

The download you are speaking of...you say that it will apply the watermark to all the photos. What about landscape versus portrait and varying sizes. Does it adjust for size or would I have to group the photos with similar properties and create watermarks for each size (i.e. 8x10 Landscape, 5x7 portrait...) Thanks.

I have tried the different uploads and really like the drag and drop in Zenfolio...though none of them load really fast for me. My last show took two days give or take to upload.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

I haven't really used it more than once or twice to try it out.  NAPP has a tutorial on their site on how to use it.  I think you make your watermark ant tell the plug-in where to place it (bottom-left, bottom-right, etc.) and you can preview them before you apply.  I believe you can tell the program how big to make the watermark.  As far as different sizes for different size watermarks for different output sizes, I think you have to set them up yourself.  If you want your logo to be the exact same size regardless of output, you would have to set that up by applying different watermarks to different versions of the same image.  If you just want your logo on the print, you could just apply the watermark to one version and make sure the aspect ratio of the print didn't change (i.e a 4x6 is different than 8x10 but 24x36 is the same aspect ratio as 4x6 and 16x20 is the same as 8x10) .  Hope this helps

With the new Lightwoom 3 Beta being released, you can easily add watermarks to your prints.  Plain text or graphics.  You can download it at http://labs.adobe.com for free

Photobyjuha thanks for the note about acdsee pro 3. I have tried acdsee before and really liked it. I will check into it for the batch processing.
