3 of my submissions were chosen as finalists? I feel as if I have cheated somehow...or perhaps a mistake has been made?

By the way, Bob, your wildlife photography never ceases to amaze me.

    Good luck to everyone. };]

I just wanted to take a second to say Thank You for nominating my photo CARNIVAL as a finalist in the featured image contest.  I'm already a winner by holding a spot with such fantastic photos and talented photographers. I'm relatively new to Zenfolio and I am absolutely honored by this. Again, thank you so so very much.... :):)

  • Well, I didn't see any 'option below thumbnails on this page' in order to cast my vote, so if I may do so here, I choose:(bicycle)

Do you see the thumbnails on the first page of this thread? There is a voting box right under them. Select ONE photo and vote on it.

If you do not see the box, you might have javascript turned off in your browser.

Re: Voting for Featured Images Contest NOW OPEN

After only doing photography part-time since Feb 2008, I feel that I'm beginning to understand all the implications that makes a striking photo: Vision (or previsualization), Spirit (being able to interpret something more than what is seen in the photo), Creativity ("you want a straight photo or want me to go nuts with my artistic license ?"), Serendipity (all about timing it right) and being able to pour it all in into firm mold that is a firm grasp that is "the Technique"

Other than the encouragements of the usual suspects (friends, family and co-workers), I decided (on a lark) to gauge myself against a few of the multitudes of very talented photographers by entering my first eve photo contest.

I was very pleased to have my photo "Theater Of The Heavens" (aka "Clouds" - Photo 26 in the voting contest) selected by the Zenfolio judges and would like to thank them and all the people who not only have voted for my photo - this confirms my gut feelings and other people's positive comments about my growth over such a short period of time.

But I would also like to thank everyone that voted for any photos for this not only benefits the contest winners but benefits Zenfolio by giving them a greater public profile and thus being able to increase our community.

After all, isn't a plurality of photographic points of views the cornerstone for any growth in any art ?

    Sincerely,

    Pascal Sauvé

     Hi Laura

Just looking at the entire gallery of submissions and I only see 525 images, not 542.  Among the missing are all our other submissions, but that wouldn't account for the entire difference.  I wonder what happened?

Yes, there are 525 submissions. I have recently given up coffee and there are side effects Stick out tongue

Any images that were left out were either vertical(not eligible) or didn't have Adding to Collections enabled.

     Hi Laura

Oh dear, giving up coffee in the middle of a Featured Images contest....you are brave!

At least for our images, all were horizontal, and - and this is what was confusing - they all were visible when you first put the Gallery up.

However, in thinking about it, I realize that I may have screwed things up.  A day or so ago I went back to the original galleries and disabled the Adding to Collections.  I didn't think this would remove them from the Submissions Gallery, but I guess it must have. Sigh.  I have gone back and enabled the Adding to Collections once again...should that enable the images to return to the Submissions Gallery?  Is there anything else I can do to return them?

Sorry for making life difficult (and I don't even have caffeine withdrawal as an excuse!)

Thanks for your help and patience.

Yes, this explains it. And here I thought I was losing it. WinkIf you send me the links again I will add them back to the original Collection.

    Hi Laura,

I was wondering how often Zenfolio has these contests? I'm kinda new to Zenfolio and It's been so much fun having my photo CARNIVAL in the final 30 that I want to make sure I don't miss any future contest.  Everyone picks on me because 90% of my photos are vertical and now that I know you need horizontal photos I'm going to try to challenge myself to take more horizontal photos.... :):)
