Setting up charges to ship abroad

    Hi All,

I would like someone to help me setting up the shipping charges for shipment abroad. For instance I think I can have Zenfolio to ship to Europe, but I need to set up a shipping method along with shipping charges i.e. 'delivery cost per package' and 'maximum number of items per package'. Can I choose for instance to ship by USPS? It is here where I need some price advice or where to look for the reference shipping charges. In fact how can I know how much to charge for a shipment to France or Germany? I think I cannot have a 'flat rate' since charges may be higher than the price of the prints per se or too low if a custom is ordering more prints.

    Many thanks for helping

    Hi Simone,

Are you setting up shipping methods for self fulfillment or do you plan to use the Zenfolio partner labs? If you are using the partner labs then shipping charges are determined by the vendors and you do not need to worry about it.

If you are planning to fulfill your own orders then I would suggest asking the shipping company you plan to work with (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.) for a guideline. They usually have some information available depending on weight or you can get estimates from their websites.

Re: Setting up charges to ship abroad

    Hi,

At this time I was thinking to use the Zenfolio fulfillment. But I do not understand why when I choose 'send to United Kingdom' (for instance) I have a message saying that 'There are no products available for the selected destination'. Thus I tried to go to the Shipping Methods in My Custom Products but I need to set up a Shipping Method. If I opt to ship to the European Union, I still cannot save the Shipping Method since the message that appears asks for: No delivery cost entered. Please enter delivery cost for at least one size category.

Is there another way to allow to people from abroad to request prints (at this time) fulfilled by Zenfolio without setting up the shipping charges?

    Thanks you very much,

    simone

    Simone,

If you are planning to use the Zenfolio partner labs then you do not need to set shipping charges as this is determined by the labs.

If you are planning on setting up custom products to self fulfill your orders then please follow the step by step guide provided here and you will be walked through setting up shipping charges.

Re: Setting up charges to ship abroad

Thanks, but something is still not clear. I have tried to add a print to the shopping chart and I selected another country other than USA. However the message that appears says: The photographer is unable to ship to the specified destination. Please contact the photographer to resolve this issue.

So I presume the same will happen to an individual that wants to place an order from abroad. I think I am still missing something. How can I allow ordering to other countries without setting up a Shipping Method?

    Many thanks

In order to do this you need to add multiple currencies to your price list. You only need to edit the Shipping Methods page if you are self-fulfilling orders.

We have instructions for adding multiple currencies available here.
