    More Traffic To Photo Gallery?

Am trying to figure out to get more people to visit our photo gallery, and perhaps make a purchase.  Any response of help in this matter would be appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Marc and Silas

In the current absence of SEO I’d suggest try and get your site listed on as many other sites as possible, have a link on your Facebook account or personal blog and perhaps create a front-end via something using wix.com which is referenced by Google.

Put a link to your site into your signature on forums like these so that the link is displayed every time you post.  And then become active in several photography forums...  get several posts in many forums, so you have several relevant links back to your site from several sources.  This always makes the search engines more friendly to your site.

Good advice there Kevin. I get most of the majority of my hits from the railway forums on which I tend to post.

Re: More Traffic To Photo Gallery?

blogs from blogger are free, set one up too. Make one post a week (or more) if possible. Link in a "signiture" for each post as well. Some other SEO things to try since your zen page has no SEO at all...

    • Get a .com domain that is relavant (but not too long) to your audience. i.e. - w3.railroadpics.com. Less than 16 characters for top level domain is ideal, but mostly for people to remember it by.
    • Dont redirect it, but actually assign it to a web page. It can be a splash screen with links to your blog and zenfolio site or a wix site as suggested. If your premium user, make that site your zenfolio home front page and link to it etc.
    • Keywords on the home page in the meta. This is not nearly as good as it used to be (thanks to spammers) but make sure each page you can access code has unique keywords relating to page content. Also avoid duplicate content. Like the blog, dont make several nearly identical posts just to link to your site, this will cause more harm than good.
    • Link back to your site AND make 3 way links. The SE's know you can link two way all day, and it still helps, but the best method is 3 way (or 4) linking. You link to my site, I link to John's site, and Jon's site links back to yours. They recognize this took a consorted effort and rank accordingly. Personal facebook pages, flickr etc can be utilized in this, but real full blown websites and blogs are your best bet. There are a TON of community forums out there that do not verify registration thoroughly etc. Not that I condone trickery but you can make a dozen hotmail and gmail acct's, and frequently post conversations between soccermom13 and plumberscrackAlbert raving about your work and website ;) without clogging up a popular board and getting banned etc from there.
    • Tag as much work in publicly accessible areas with keywords, tags etc. Like flickr tags etc.
    • Go to the Search engine websites and submit your site. The zenfolio address will do no good it needs to be that dot com and stand alone site with content and links. Google/Yahoo/Bing etc all have thier own submit forms, just search the phrase for the particular engine you wish to use and you will get a link for the submit as first result (using tat engine anyway!).
    • XML sitemaps if you have a stand alone site.. these help alot too.
    • Make sure no one page of any site (except forum signitures) has more than 25-30 links back to your site.. You start to look like a link farm and the engines will remove you all together if they suspect this.
    • Read each search engine's policies on SEO. Most are the same, but each one has a list, go by it, they are not fooling/lying to you with it.
    • USE GOOGLE ANALYTICS. Zenfolio allows you to add this to your Zen page. You should use it on your blog, site etc too. I have no proof and no public admission is acknowledged, but I firmly believe using google analytics will bump you one over a site in the same query that is not (in a google search). Why wouldnt they? Its data they can harvest with your permission. I am not the only pwerson who thinks this way either. What do you have to lose by using it anyway? I actually use it daily now to track everything about the 8-10 sites I currently manage and its great!
