    .net and .com?

    Hello,

I originally set up my Zenfolio with domain forwarding from woodlandphoto.net.  Recently got the woodlandphoto.com domain and decided to also set it up to now forward to my Zenfolio website.

When I go to preferences in my Zenfolio acount I only see the ability to receive the forwarding from one website.  I switched to the .com, but it would be nice to have both the .net and .com.  Is there a way to do this?

    Thanks,

    Mark

Mark, you can set up domain forwarding for the second domain. This means that the .net domain will be redirected to your .com domain.

Domain forwarding must be set up at your domain hosting provider. Contact the help or support of your provider how to do it. If you post your domain provider here, maybe there is a user who uses the same provider and can point you in the right direction.

    I'm using Go Daddy.

I'll be back if I can't get it to work.  Thanks!

I went to Go Daddy and set the woodlandphoto.net and .org domains to forward to my woodlandphoto.com that is working for my Zenfolio site.

The .net and .org are not forwarding correctly even though I believe I've done it correctly at Go Daddy assuming I set it up the same way.  Any suggestions?

choose which you want to be the primary, the .com or the .net and put that into zenfolio in the custom domain section and then in godaddy setup the CNAME record and the A record per the instructions in Zenfolio's custom domain setup.

Then for the other domain, go to godaddy, and instead of creating cname and A records, just go to 'domain forwarding' and forward the second name to the first.

    Re: .net and .com?

As I could see your primary domain www.woodlandphoto.com is already working with Zenfolio.

What Kevin and I refer to is described on this page: http://help.godaddy.com/article/422

In step 6 it is mentioned to enter the forwarded to URL. In this field you should enter http://www.woodlandphoto.com

I'm no GoDaddy user, so I can only think about it theoretically.

I've tried to do what you describe and it doesn't work.  I'm sure it is something simple, but I've tried a variety of options and nothing.  Go Daddy says it is forwarding to the .com, but when I type the .net into the browser it can't find it.  Thanks

    Re: .net and .com?

I have tested a similar setup with one of my domains and it worked (after some time until the nameservers have been updated).

As I wrote I can not test it with GoDaddy. What I see is that the domains www.woodlandphoto.net and www.woodlandphoto.org do not resolve to any IP-address. Therefore I guess either something is wrong with the setup on GoDaddy or maybe the nameservers are not updated yet.

I don't understand how GoDaddy support can tell you that the forwarding is working, if the domains are not resolving to any IP-address.

    Re: .net and .com?

I meant that when I'm in my GoDaddy control panel it says that the .net domain is forwarded to the .com

I haven't tried to contact support with them yet.  I was waiting to see if it would get updated.  After 24 hours I'll try support.

    Thanks for your help.

give it overnight and if you don't see it working, then contact godaddy support.  usually those things take a short time to propagate through the system.
