is there any way to fix the colors of the backgrounds of the small tile view on my pages?

not sure its intentional or not but the background of the tables (or however they are built) does not match the page background and it looks really bad.

how do i change them so they match?

It's the way the theme you have selected is set up.  You can try a different theme. 

The new update that is promised for end of year is supposed to have more page customization options.
