    Maximum Image Size

I would like to see the maximum image size increased.

Even the smaller modern monitors have screen resolution in excess of 1400 pixels wide.

The present maximum displayable width on Zenfolio is 1100 pixels. This does not provide an adequate presentation for many images, especially so with panorama.

Sales of images prepared for wall mounts in common sizes such as 20" x 10" do not display large enough for the viewer / customer to see the detail.

I suggest that consideration be given to increasing the width a size in the area of 1300 pixels wide by 850 pixels high.

    Regards, Roy Berger

    Re: Maximum Image Size

Martin, I believe Roy was referring to the 'display' size and not the 'upload' size. (and you can upload any pixel size actually, as long as the filesize is 12MB or less (24MB or less for Premium users).

And Roy, I know they are close to adding additional larger image display sizes...  stay tuned!

    Re: Maximum Image Display Size

I have to agree concerning limits on image display size. I'm a potential PBase refugee -  love community and no-nonsense bare bones design but hate lack of upkeep. So I'm trying to see how Zenfolio and SmugMug stack against each other and against PBase. Since I'm new to Zenfolio please bear with me.

Compared to PBase one of the things that both slick and modern guys seem to lack is control over image display size. As was already said currently most people run wide-screen LCDs at pretty high res. Default size at which Zenfolio normally previews the image to me seems pretty small. In a lot of cases this just not doing justice to the image and leaves too much of white space on the screen giving Zenfolio gallery kinda scaled down appearance. SmugMug also lacks control but at least displays bigger previews. By contrast PBase allows for preview display 3 different sizes (Small, Medium, Large plus Original) and remembers the setting globally (would've been better if they stored it on per gallery/image basis).

As a code rat myself I understand that it's easier to demand such a seemingly simple feature than to implement it. As part of upload PBase seems to generate and cache 3 sizes for each image. Naturally this takes storage space. On the other hand generating desired display size out of the original each time on demand could be slow. Probably there could be some middle ground, e.g. cache on demand. Or maybe I'm an idiot and simply miss something that Zenfolio already has :)

Just a lazy amateur. Checking out Zenfolio.

I have been told that Zenfolio intends to increase the mazimum size of the displayable image in the near future.

Let's hope they make it controllable on per gallery/image basis.

    Re: Maximum Image Display Size

Image size is controllable now... per gallery and per image.

In edit view, select the gallery(s) or photo(s) you want to set, then in 'access control' (right column) go to 'image protection' and select the largest image size allowed.

and yes, Zen will be offering larger display sizes, and will be adding them to the display size allowed control...  :)
