    Image Titles/File Names

I need to have image title or file name appear with the image (for client proofing), not as a mouse roll-over.

If this is possible, I can't find where I can select this in edit view.

    Thanks,

    Peter

If in edit view you can see a title filled in then the title is always displayed below the photo in photo view (may depend on the theme).

In thumbnail view of galleries there is an option to show or hide the title. You find this option in the customize view. Go to the thumbnail view of the gallery and open the options from the toolbar on the top (yellow background). In the section of thumbnail display there is the option to show/hide the title.

Currently there is no way to display the file name next to the image. It is displayed only in the EXIF-Info section, when it is enabled.

actually, you can populate the title field with the filename if you want...

    • in edit view, open the gallery,
    • click 'select all' to select all the photos,
    • in the right column description box click 'edit'
    • under 'title' check the box for 'copy from filename'.

This will copy the filename of each photo as the title of the photo.  BUT it will overwrite any titles you currently have for the photos so make sure that is what you want to do!

Then just make sure you have visitor options set to display the title.  I do this same thing for my (hidden) wedding proof galleries.

Yes Kevin I use that approach for all my photographs. However I think have noticed a slight glitch. If you select a group of (or at least >1) photographs then it copies the filename as the title of the photograph without adding the file type extension. If you do it on just a single photograph it adds the extension ie .jpg, .png .gif etc.

I don't know if this is a bug per se, something that only happens in Safari or whether it has been designed this way. Has anyone else noticed this - anyone from ZF care to comment as to whether it's supposed to behave this way?

    Thanks for that Harim.

A few of my clients aren't that savvy on the net, so I really need to have image file names clearly visible, for them to order prints.

    I will keep trying.

    Cheers for the tips.

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks a lot for your info, the file name for each image is now displaying under each photo exactly how I wanted. I would supply a link, but the gallery is p/w protected.

I thought I tried everything last night, up till the wee hours trying to solve the issue. So thanks very very much indeed.

Martin, very interesting actually... I've never noticed that, but if I think back, the only time I've used it is on entire proofing galleries.  hmmmmm...
