I know that I tend to defend Zenfolio quite a bit, and it's truly from the heart. But yes there are shortcomings in the current 'structure' (?) of things that don't lend themselves to optimum SEO. I thought I heard or read that one of the most recent releases addressed something in the underlying structure. I could only guess at what that might be, but won't voice it because it's a very un-educated guess.
But I too will be very excited to see the day when I can do a google image search and see my photos coming up in there, and see even greater hits now to my Zen pages (although they are all currently indexed and available in google).
As far as your comment where one day a search engine pulls up one thing and another day another thing... very much so yes. The internet is a 'living entities' where thousands of new sites are born and thousands die constantly. The websites I do tend to be mainly for small manufacturers (because thats what I grew up in and know best) and I have to constantly remind customers that there is no guarantee in being on the first page. Some want everyone that searches for 'jobshop' to find their listing in the top-ten. Well with google finding 997,000 hits on 'jobshop', 996,990 listings WONT make it to the top-ten. And next day, sometimes next hour, the top ten will be different.
But for here and now, improvements definitely can, and I truly believe WILL be made by Zenfolio, and I am truly believe they have already begun and it's just a matter of time. So I'm being patient. Or trying to.. cuz I trust the Zenmasters. :)
