    Re: Custom Domain

Got it. Check out el310.com or www.el310.com. My original post does not give the correct settings. Here's what worked for me.

    A-Record
    Host, or (Sub-)Domain: www.[empty].elcom
    Target, or IP-Address: 64.62.158.16
    -----
    CName-Record
    Host: www.el310.com
    Target: www.el310.zenfolio.com

    Is it zenfolio.com or www.zenfolio.com ?

Sorry to have another go at this information.

appstate98 reference to the Prefences Tab:

For example, to point photos.yourdomain.com to zenfolio.com, you need to create the following CNAME record in yourdomain.com:

    photos CNAME zenfolio.com.

NOTE: there should be no www in zenfolio.com.

While checking the Preferences tab, I get the following information...

For example, to point photos.yourdomain.com to www.zenfolio.com, you need to create the following CNAME record in yourdomain.com:

    photos CNAME www.zenfolio.com.

So is the CNAME zenfolio.com or www.zenfolio.com ?

I'm no expert and spent many hours wrestling with this too. Finally got it to work, no thanks to the inept instructions at Zenfolio.

I think the "points to" entry is: domains.zenfolio.com

The www part is the "host" entry when you are creating the cname

That's how I set mine up. (I don't have any sub domain names, etc)

Like I said, I'm no expert.

    Either is fine.

Originally we required that you use zenfolio.com but not www.zenfolio.com. This was confusing for many people, so we removed that restriction. If you still see a bit of the documentation that insists on zenfolio.com, let us know and we will get it fixed.

    Re: Is it zenfolio.com or www.zenfolio.com ?

    Hi --

My domain is pointing to my Zenfolio account just fine. When I use bryanvillarinphotography.com, I'm logged into Zenfolio. But, if I go to www.bryanvillarinphotography.com, I'm not logged in.

    What am I overlooking?

    Thanks!

This is kind of expected. From the browser point of view, these are different domains with different sets of cookies, etc. When you switch to Visitor View, we use the domain name you provided in Custom Domain preferences and we automatically log you in in that domain. This does not make you logged in in the other domain.

If you prefer so, you can log in manually. Or you can specify www.bryanvillarinphotography.com in Custom Domain preferences to make it your default domain (in which case you will be automatically logged in in www.bryanvillarinphotography.com but not in bryanvillarinphotography.com).

    Re: Is it zenfolio.com or www.zenfolio.com ?

Thanks for the quick reply. I understand.

On my other websites (well, mainly blogs), there's a couple lines entered into my .HTACCESS file that'll redirect anybody visiting www.allnarfedup.com to allnarfedup.com. (no-www.org)

I know I don't have that capability here, but is there another method to do that through my registrar? (I use GoDaddy.)

The whole setup up pretty easy IF you have DNS access.  My provider gives me access to WHM.  I have my own domain, let's call it 'Test.com'.  I want to maintain my own first page, with a link to my galleries.  I choose pics.test.com as the subdomain that will go to Zenfolio.  All that is required is to add to A records as shown below.  Of course you need to add pics.test.com on the Zenfolio Custom Domain page.  That's it!

    www.pics    14400   IN   A  64.62.158.18

    pics             14400   IN   A  64.62.158.18

I just signed up for a domain name at godaddy yesterday and finally figured out how to do the custom domain, but now I'm confused about how zenfolio can log me in just from me typing foobella.com in the address bar? Will this only happen on my originating computer or did I do something wrong and anyone be logged in if they type my address? I know, it's probably a dumb question.

You will be logged in on your computer only. Login information is saved in a cookie which is stored on your computer.
