Watermarks on Thumbnails

I've noticed a decline in sales of downloads since moving to ZenFolio and after doing a bit of research and detective work I've found out why. It turns out that the thumbnails are quite good enough for most people's Facebook use and they are just screen scraping the thumbnails -- which don't have any watermarks on them -- and posting those on Facebook.

So...

This is an urgent request to add watermarks to thumbnails. Without such, ZenFolio is just giving our products away for free.

Packages

I do know that this has been asked for in many other threads, but most of them were in 2008 and the response seemed to be fairly consistent that this would be addressed some time in 2009. We are now heading into the back half of 2009 and I would like to know what kind of progress has been made and if there is possibly any tighter timeline on the horizon.

For the record, here is what I would like at a minimum for package selling:

at a minimum a single image on multiple predefined outputs. (for example: I shoot a headshot, and the client can choose package "a" which is 8x10, 4x6, and a page of wallets)

I do not care if you offer me any discounts on the base pricing, but I should be able to assign a price to this package based on formula.

All I am looking for is the ability to group together a group of products with a single button click on the ordering side.

Another request to make buying photos more prominent / easier

I lost a sale over the weekend to another photographer because the customer couldn't figure out how buy a print on Zenfolio. She found the photo she wanted but she never "hovered" her mouse over the photo to get the icon bar to slide out from the left. She also never saw the "Add to Cart" way up in the upper right of the corner.

There really really needs to be a very prominent and ALWAYS VISIBLE "Buy This Photo" button or control right next to the photo, so that our customers don't need to hunt for how to buy products.

ZenFolio is a site/service for selling photos. The selection, buying, and checkout process should be obvious and it should be fluid. Anything less is like trying to run a Brick & Mortar store with the checkout lane hidden in the back. People eventually get tired of trying and go elsewhere.

Minimum Order Requirement

For my portrait sessions, I require a minimum order in dollars, but cannot enforce that here. So I end up using zenfolio as only a proofing tool. Could something be added so an order won't be allowed unless the client meets our designated order minimum?

Small Slide Show on the Front Page.

I wonder if we could have a section of the interface of the front page dedicated to displaying a small slide show uploaded by the user. This could be a part of Bio/Info section and feature slides of recent photos or whatever else we choose to be there.

Allow Client Favorites/Picks to be viewable / printable with thumbnails/filenames.

RSS Modification

I use the locked with Password option to give my customers access to galleries without showing the rest of the world. It would be nice if these galleries could show up in the RSS feed so that I can intigrate it into my website easier.

I was looking at Mpix's site and noticed they have "Canvas on Matboard" and "Canvas on Stretcher Frame" This is something I am interested in. Laura stated in another post that ZF does not currently offer this, but if there was enough interest they might do it.

I would like an option on canvas besides Gallery Wraps. So, I am starting a poll to gauge interest.

More Sections for home page

Is there some way to add Sections to the home page? I'd like to have something other than Featured, Recently Added and All Photos.

I'd also like to have Galleries and Collections that are in the Featured section not show in the All Photos section at the same time. I see no reason for them to be in both places on the home page at the same time.

Change title of custom products price list category. PLEASE

I really need to be able to change the the subcategory title in the Custom Products price list.

I have all my large print sizes in that category as they are fullfilled by a local printer who is much much cheaper than photobox etc and these prints have the potential to provide a very usefull revenue stream for me. But my customers will have no clue that I offer extremely good value large prints unless they stumble upon them!

They can already see there is a main category for prints elsewhere so that is where they will look for prints, so are very unlikely to look in the custom products category unless they are just curious to see what else there is to buy....

I believe that this issue has been a recognised known shortcomming for over a year now and surely must be very very easy to implement. So why has there been such a long delay in providing this functionality. All I'm asking for is simply to change the subcategory title (and/or add new subcategories) under the Custom Products price list.

Can we have some kind of indication that this feature is going to be introduced, or not and if it is, when?

Appologies if this is already possible, but I've not worked out how to do this yet.

Larger images!

Zenfolio desperately needs larger image sizes not only when you "dim lights," but also for the slideshow. Your direct competition, Smugmug, offers full screen images for very large monitors. Even free image hosting sites are offering larger image sizes than Zen (i.e. Picasa web)! That is unacceptable for us. Larger images are a huge part of elegant presentation. Please, we need this soon! Thanks.

Larger Thumbnails in the Edit View

I'm not sure if this has ever been addressed, but can we have a way to make larger thumbnails in Edit View, just like we do in Visitor View? The existing thumbnails are awfully small. Often, when I want to delite some images from my gallery or copy them to another, I have to click on the image to see the detail. I wouldn't have to do this in most cases if the thumbnails were larger.

Services as a costume product

I would like the option to have a service be a custom product. For instance my "day rate" or a "session fee". It would simplify my work flow to have everything in Zenfolio. I could except a deposit and then except the balance for a session right through Zenfolio. The client could start ordering their prints after that. It would be simple for the costumer and easy for me to collect payments and keep track.

I'm currently using what you could call a "ghetto rig" to charge for services through Zen using a download of the invoice. So the client pays for there session fee for x amount of dollars and downloads their picture of the invoice. Like I said a little ghetto but the only way for me to collect using a credit card at the moment. I don't like to refer to what I do as ghetto though. I'm sure most would agree with that. I would just love the option to have something I could use through Zen that would be more professional.

In the end I would say it's Zenfolio's destiny to start ZenfolioPro and of course that would be paired with MpixPro. Leaving the existing Zenfolio or even a simplified version for the hobbyist.

Better Sorting - include marking!

A couple of things specifically:

I would like to be able to mark individual photos to be exported to flickr or facebook from a collection, too, not just a gallery (the only option is for the entire collection link to be published). Actually, marking a photo in general would be helpful for me (to do my own sorting), and for clients so i can see their favorites. I would then like to be to get a list of filenames from this marked group that I could copy/paste into my photo management app and use to create a subset of my pictures there (called client picks, or whatever). The lightroom find feature, for instance, can accept a simple filename list separated by commas.
I would like to be able to unluck or lock photos based simply on their presence in a particular collection or gallery. For instance, I upload photos for clients or family/friends into logical, password-protected galleries corresponding to events I've shot. I would then like to be able to simply add some winner shots by marking them and adding to my "highlights" collection. I would want the photos to show up visible to the public in that collection automatically so i wouldn't have to go back into the gallery they came from, re-select and unlock them.

Coupon / Selling Features Needed:

I know there are currently a lot of these threads going around. I looked at the approved features thread and was disappointed to see that coupons have not made that list yet considering I think they need the biggest overhaul.

Things I would like to see (not all of these are strictly coupon):

- Be able to reduce to base price but re-add a percentage of profit. For example, I have my price list marked up quite a bit to be directed at friends and family of my clients who do not have a copyright release. However, I would also like to have a coupon to present to clients and those friends and family who do have a copyright release that allows them to purchase prints at a heavy discount that is extremely close to cost to encourage them to use my hand selected printer. I'm doing this anyway, but it's extra workflow for me and for them because they have to give me file names and what size prints they want and then I have to work up an invoice for them separately in PayPal, and they can't see what things are going to cost beforehand.

- There also needs to be an option to enforce a minimum order in terms of cost value, not profit value. My printer requires a $12 minimum purchase. I'd like to be able to set that somewhere and have Zenfolio either add a fee to cover that or force the customer to choose more prints at normal price until that quota is met. Preferably, I'd like to choose between both options.

- This was brought to my attention by a customer last week. With my custom products, only one address is asked for in the cart process -- shipping. My client had different billing and shipping addresses and there was no way to indicate that. This should be fixed soon, and it shouldn't take that much work to resolve, either, I would think.

It would be very, very helpful to have package pricing be available. My customers really want to be able to order packages and it is a pain to have them order packages from me and individual prints from my website. Please, consider package pricing options soon!

Graphic Overlay

I'm thinking a watermark on steroids.

I'm beginning to a lot more event work besides weddings and I like to give my customers options like borders and overlays. Most recently I did a charity event called "Making Miracles" and took a lot of portraits of couples dressed up on a plain canvas background. It would be nice to have a "layer" uploaded with fancy type and graphics that the customer can fluidly adjust depending on the crop for print size.

Since each photo size has a different ratio, having it set permanently on the photo would have it clipped in certain spots or the customer could decide not to have it at all as an option.

This would also be cost effective so that the photographer doesn't have to create one for every photo or crop and save bandwidth/server space by uploading one template to cover the entire gallery.

Could be used to High school Prom dances and other events...

Password Ordering

I'm not sure if this has ever been mentioned... but I've been thinking about it a lot lately.

I'd like to see the ability to require a password for ordering prints from a gallery. Here's what I mean.

Say I have a gallery that is available to the public. This is a gallery of an event, let's say a BMX race. Now, I want the gallery open to the public to showcase the work, however, I don't want the public to be able to order prints. Instead, I'd like to give parents a password, which would allow them to unlock the gallery for ordering. This way, parents don't feel weird about random strangers being able to order prints of their kids. Does this make sense? In my head, it seems like a great idea.
