 Helllllp! What am I doing wrong to not see my photo link highlighted?

 paste your link into your message, or whatever you want the text to be, then highlight that text you want as the link and click the little chain link icon (not the broken link) and paste your link in there.  your message text can be      this pic     but your link you put in the chain link HAS to be a valid link.  go back, edit it and try it...copy that link you have, then select it, see the chain link icon light up, click it and paste the copied link address into the top field in the link window.  :)
