Collections need their own Selling and Default Controls

It is problematic for Collections to use the particular selling and defaults of the specifc photo.  We should be able to set prices for photos in a collection, regardless of the defaults used in the gallery where the photo is kept.

For example, I may have a photo in a private family gallery with special base pricing for family members.  However, that same pricing carries over to a collection if I use one of those photos.  Similarly, if I set the default to allow "Download Original" in the private gallery, the photo can also be downloaded from the collection, and I can control it.  This isn't good.

I hope ZF will allow greater customization within collections.

This is an issue I have seen and would like to see changed.

Collections should have their own pricing and watermark settings.

I would like to see this change also.

The only work around is to upload the image more than once and that's really inefficient, a waste of space and electricity.

Actually, you could upload it once, and then use the Duplicate function to copy it on the server.

However, even though the current system is perfect for me, I agree that y'all's request would be an improvement (so long as it's an optional override, and not a complete reversal of the current system).

    Canons 10D and 400D.
    50mm f/1.4, 24mm f/2.8, 100mm f/2.8 Macro.
    Photoshop CS3 Extended, Aperture 2.1, OSX.4.11
    And coffee. *Lots* of coffee.

I also understand your wanting this functionality, and if ZF chooses to, great!  But remember why it is the way it is.

Properties are set on photos.  In a collection, you don't have photos, you have 'shortcuts' to photos.  And as Thorne said, you can copy instead of re-uploading.  It's as fast as 'adding to a collection' so it's not a waste of your electricity, and if you are selling then you have unlimited space, so you are not wasting your space either.  :)

I didn't know about the copying thing. That is good to know and will save me time.

The electricity and space I was referring to was actually at zenfolio. Wasting resources is wasting resources whether it directly effects me or not. I was just thinking globally. I envision rooms full of hard drives spinning away with two and three copies of the same image seems wasteful to me : )

well that's true, and good green thinking.  (thank you!)  but I have seen pics of their building (don't know if it's their only location or not) but the roof is all covered with solar panels running at least the entire office...  again don't know if their servers are located there, but did want to mention to everyone that I was please to find out you are doing business with a very green-conscious company!
