Very nice image, southardstyle. The hdr really fits the subject.

This is my best current photo http://www.paulcolvinphotography.com/p839597360/h29571aad#h29571aad  The vine is on our front deck and this one curly-cue part was just sticking up looking for something to wind itself around. Paul

Did a family photo shoot in September...  this one was just a lucky shot... but felt it really captured the father and son...

Haven't compiled a very large selection yet, but so far there's something about this one that makes it one of my favorites.

The light in these photos is almost magical.  I have a friend with the same camera, and he gets that same magic light quality in his images.  Don't know how to describe it in words but it's a definite look.  I have a Canon but I never get that quality in mine.  Maybe it's the Nikon?

Love your images, esp. the one of the road going off in the distance.

This is in response to kenschram, obviously haven't got the response in the right place yet.

Thank you for the comments, Suchin.  To be completely truthful, I just downloaded the trial of Lightroom 2 (and now Beta 3) to give these a little "boost". Not much though - primarily because I don't know what I'm doing yet Smile. As you said, the camera does a pretty good job and being in the right place at the right time doesn't hurt either.

    Thanks again.

Going for a Velvia-type look on this one.  5 Bracketed exposures, blended and then tweaked with Nik Color Effects Pro.  I've been coming back to this spot for several seasons.  The last couple of years the conditions have never quite meshed, usually due to overcast or wind.  I was very happy to have a sunny, windless morning for this shot, which I took yesterday. The recently fallen leaves under the surface in the foreground were an added bonus.

Very cool, Russ.  This type of stuff is a ways off for me yet (need updated equipment/software, etc $$$), but I really like the look.

    Great job and incredible capture.

Thanks for your kind comments, Ken.  It's very satisfying when you can get mother nature to cooperate with you to get that image you have in your head.  Where I live (northern Ohio), fall weather is really variable.  Between work, frequent cloudy days and the vagaries of wind, rain and lighting, it's often a challenge to get what you're after, even when you "stake out" a particular site, like I was doing here.

Your work is impressive.  Enjoyed browsing your galleries.

How do you get your front page to be so clean?  Or is that a question for another thread?  I would love my homepage to look like that instead of the repetitive default look that mine has.  Newbie here so am still clueless re a lot of things.

    Hey Matt,

I see you are a sports shooter.  I do the three local high schools in our town, primarily varsity football and volleyball, although I've done softball and basketball too.  Here's my website if you want to take a look:

    http://photoexperts.zenfolio.com/

If you have some Photoshop skills I have a suggestion for you to increase your sales revenue.  At the end of the season, I take orders for "Sports Posters", which are 16 x 20 inch prints (metallic option), which are basically montages featuring individual players using various action shots of that person I have collected during the year.  I sell these for $99 each and the parents love them, particularly ones with graduating seniors.

This year I started offering various "Commemorative" prints for various noteworthy events, i.e., Homecomings, last Home Game of the year, etc.  I sell these as 8 x 10 prints only at $21.99 for the regular print and $23.99 for the metallic option.  These also have been very popular with parents.

I've also started jazzing up my cover page with a montage of the particular game the gallery represents.  I find I have many more hits on my site that way.

Anyway, take a look at some of my poster galleries and you might get some ideas. Also, I just upgraded from the Canon 50D to the 7D and I love the improved quality it has.

    Take care.

    Tim
