Images in portrait mode are not 1100X850

I've always wanted to ask this. Why portrait oriented images can't be displayed at this resolution? They look 800x630 to me. I'm viewing this on a 1900x1200 monitor.

    Hi Kevin,

All my portrait oriented photos are displayed smaller. Example:

Compare to any in the landscape mode.

Your portrait-oriented images are displaying as large as possible (height about 850 pixels) on a 1900x1200 monitor. An ability to scroll would be needed to accommodate a larger height (e.g., 1100), but Zenfolio does not support scrolling.

my laptop resolution is 1440 x 900.  Your image is displaying about 455 pixels high.  given that I have tabs, bookmark bar, address bar, general menu bar frame and bottom status bar on, there is no space left to display the image without it running off the screen.

Images are sized to fit available screen realestate, and as just said, any larger vertically, it would not fit on the screen and you could not see the entire image at once...

landscape images appear bigger because they are, because they are the same orientation as the screen and can make better use of the screen realestate.

Wow, 455 pixel high! I can only imagine what the lowest resolution laptops and monitors display...

In fact my neighbor just came in with a laptop problem. She has one of those $500 laptops. Before she left, I used her laptop to go to my website and look at the photos. They almost look thumbnail size and I can't even describe the poor visual quality of images. According to the statistic, that's what kind of monitors most of the people use to view internet graphics/images. Essentially, they can't see any visual quality whatsoever. She looked at my 1900x1200 laptop and my ColorEdge CG241W  and said she never imagined a computer screen can look so good.

The images actually look pretty good on mine.  I'm extremely happy with it.

Remember the image displays at the same size on the same screen.  If I double the resolution or dots per inch displaying, and then double the size in pixels each direction, I'll get the same 'physical' size of image.  If I want bigger, I have to get a bigger monitor, and/or start shutting off toolbars and tabs and things to increase the available realestate...
