How about a journal to be added on website, just to inform buyers and friends what is coming up or where have we been doing photos, so they take a bit more interest in what we are doing and what we have in store coming up.

You could always just set up a free blog and have a link on your home page.  That's basically what you're asking for right?  I have a link to mine on my page.

The plan is to have, by the end of 2009, page customization and more page options. Definitely to the home page and also to group and gallery pages I believe.

Now I don't know exactly what will or wont be included in that update when it comes out, but I know there have been requests made for additional page types... including text pages for things like pricing, contact info, etc.  And I'm hoping that something like that will be included in the update, or shortly following.  But if not, I'm sure it will be coming along.

In the meantime, kpepin is correct... blogs seem to be the most widely used and socially acceptable form for photographers to communicate with customers.  And free and easy to boot!  :)
