In your situation, I suppose I'd make a group called "Previous Featured Collections" (and possibly bury it deep within my overall structure) and move collections in and out of there. And that way, they'd always be available for future rotation into the Featured slots.

Wouldn't work at the moment - all the images we see within zenFolio are generated by them from ours, and we can't pipe anything directly into zF without going through that regeneration filter.
Regarding Zoomify, that's good news and bad. Bad, that we don't have any zoom solution here, but good that zenFolio remains ...
